Walk - Chew Valley, Somerset - Leader Jude
6 mile Sunday walk with stunning views of Chew Valley
A number of steep climbs therefore takes about 3 hrs but well worth the effort; lots of interesting history, the site of Richmont Castle, a 150 year old aquaduct still functional, 12 miles of pipework working by gravity alone taking water to Bristol, a church path made from upside-down tombstones, Smitham Chimney (lead smelting) an Old Cockpit (cock fighting pit not part of an aeroplane!) & magnificent views.
Starting point: The Waldegrave Arms, East Harptree, BS40 6BD- meet at 1130 when pub opens, have coffee, use toilets. The pub serves food all day in case you want a cooked meal on your return instead of a picnic lunch, although there will be a stop half way round.
