Onwards and upwards to Rodhuish and beyond. This will be a 10.5 mile hilly walk starting and finishing in Dunster. We will be visiting Aller Hill, Dumbledeer, Combe Farm, Rodhuish, Stout's Way Lane, Monkham Hill, Withycombe Scruffets, King's Head Coppice, Black Ball and Vinegar Hill.
A 10 mile walk, with a couple of gentle hills, and just under 1,000 ft elevation starting from Cerne Abbas. The walk starts at the village hall with a gentle climb up through Cerne Park onto the Wessex Ridgeway where we will have good views of the giant, skirting Sydling St Nicholas before making our way to the open access land at Pond Bottom and via a short hill to Godmanstone where we pass the now closed Kings Arms, reputedly the smallest pub in Britain and onwards to Nether Cerne (with its ...
November 11th is a very special day, the end of the First World War. As this is a sunday and we will be walking I felt that we should do something to mark this important occasion. Church bells will ring around the country, there will be a minutes silence and hopefully our walk will take us to an appropriate spot at 11.00. Any suggestions please email me. Mike
Walk off the Christmas excesses with a fairly strenuous Sunday hike of about 10 miles - taking in the ancient sunken lanes near Symondsbury; a visit to St Gabriel's Chapel; a climb to the top of Golden Cap; and to Thorncombe Beacon; back via Eype Down and Quarr Lane to Symondsbury.
Advance warning - date for your diary.....Group weekend away - the lovely Brimpts Farm on Dartmoor for the weekend of the 21st to 23rd June 2019 - from Friday late afternoon/early evening to Sunday. It will be a weekend of good food, companiable company and stumbling over peat tussocks!
