Leading walks

By leading a walk you are making a significant contribution to the success and enjoyment of the group.  So, first of all - thank you.  The leader takes on great responsibility, much, if not all of which, lies in common sense and being prepared.  A walk can take on a different perspective when you have got a group of people behind you and so these notes have been prepared to help you.  It is definitely worth remembering the adage: “better safe than sorry”!

If you have not done it before (or haven't led  walk for a while) please read the file Footloose303 information for walk leadersFootloose303 information for walk leaders.  Now that the free version of Doodle doesn't do what we want it to, we're trialling Framadate.  Setting up a Framadate poll is easy, provided that you remember to select the right options - here are some instructions Creating a poll using framadateCreating a poll using framadate.

Coronavirus.  There are no longer any restrictions that we have to observe relating to coronavirus, but be aware that it is very easy to catch and not everyone will want to car-share or go inside a tea-room or pub at the end of the walk.

Obstructed paths.  If you come across a blocked or overgrown footpath, here are the links for reporting it.  Reporting footpath problemsReporting footpath problems   Don't expect the council/National Park to have cleared it by the time of the walk, though!
